American Association for Justice: A New Set of Rules for Trucking Companies & Drivers- CSA 2010

Truck accidents including big rigs, semis and other large trucks are often serious with repercussions for both the victims and their families. People’s lives are often permanently impacted due to catastrophic injuries of paralysis, spinal cord injury, or brain injury.

In many cases, the only way to achieve any form of justice is to hold the responsible party accountable for their negligent actions. As attorneys and legal professionals, we have the responsibility to stay as well informed, as possible, in our knowledge of the changing laws that can affect these cases.

Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration: “Increase Safety on the Nations Roads”

Federal trucking safety standards are set to undergo a massive overhaul this fall when SafeStat is replaced with Comprehensive Safety Analysis 2010 (CSA 2010). The following points are objectives for the new changes included in the Comprehensive Safety Analysis 2010

• Unsafe carrier: unsafe carrier and driver behaviors that lead to crashes will be identified and addressed
• Roadside Inspections: All safety-based roadside inspection violations will count, not just Out-of-Service (OOS) violations
• On-Road Performance: drivers will be more accountable for safe on-road performance
• Staying in Touch: FMCSA will reach more CMV carriers earlier and more frequently
• FMCSA Investigations: improve efficiency of carrier investigations by focusing on specific unsafe behaviors, identifying causes, and requiring corrective actions
• Accountability: hold carriers and drivers accountable for their safety performance, demanding and enforcing safe on-road performance
